Abstract
Determining when and how to submit projects in floodplains for review by the
Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is a source of confusion for many
engineers. This class helps to alleviate that confusion by providing concise explanations
of FEMA’s floodplain regulations and procedures.
Included are discussions of Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) and several
workshop problems are integrated into these discussions to walk students through
various letter actions such as:
- Letter of Map Revision (LOMR)
- Conditional Letter of Map Revision (CLOMR)
- Letter of Map Amendment (LOMA)
Benefits
Attendees will learn what they must submit to FEMA and how to help the approval
